I have problems where it won't let me connect first time, everytime. It just hangs like your problem. Then I try again and it works fine. It's a problem when requesting IP from DHCP server. Not sure if it's my router, my network, or just the BBA on GC. But once I try again, it works fine.
Can you go to the sega website to purchase the HL? I know you don't want to buy a Hunter's License, but if you can't even get to the website something should be telling you that there is no internet connection.

we've got a legit copy of pso, and we are using the shared serial, but every time we connect we get "line disconnected due to network error, please try again later". we are behind a linksys router, but all the information is entered correctly, and schthack's server is in the dns field.
we can get online using a dc browser and the bba, it seems to be just pso that wont let us play.

I used to have the same problem. If you're using the DNS number on page 1, that's not right. I believe it was Smurph who gave me another.
I'm also behind a linksys router AND my DC isn't directly connected (bridged a connection between DC and PC).
Once I got the right DNS, I got online perfectly. Also, even when I could just browse the web, I could still get Q3A online. You could at least play that, because it's really fun too.

Try 207.134.44.123 for your DNS Server, Zero.ZeroLegend wrote:we've got a legit copy of pso, and we are using the shared serial, but every time we connect we get "line disconnected due to network error, please try again later". we are behind a linksys router, but all the information is entered correctly, and schthack's server is in the dns field.

success!
i finally got it to work. in order to play with a linksys router all you have to do is open ports 40000 to 41000, and assign the dc it's own specific ip addy.
the only problem now is i couldn't move. i could chat and go into the menu, but my analogue stick wasn't doing anything. odd.

um, no you don't.
1.) to use DHCP, leave the DC's IP as 0.0.0.0.
2.) Enter 207.134.44.123 as your primary DNS.
3.) Enter your subnet mask.
4.) Enter your router's ip as default gateway, or if you have multiple routers, set it to the router's IP that is directly connected to your modem.
The Forwarding of ports to play is completely unnecessary.

i really do appriciate the help, smurf. just out of curiosity, though...why could this information have been shared a week ago when i first asked?
well, regardless, it's working now. thank you, as i'll be closing those ports. i think that info should be added to the first post, because poking around the web i see a lot of people with my problem.
thanks again.

Am I the only one that just randomly can't connect sometimes?
I'll be just fine, then suddenly I won't be able to get back online with my DC for hours, days--hell, even weeks. This has happened multiple times, and it is especially annoying when smurph and I are in the middle of a quest.
This is pissing me off. I've screwed around and I have never had any luck doing anything other than waiting.
Right now I tried everything. I'm not getting an IP assignment error or anything, and my computer is showing the DC is connected (DC connects through PC).
I have a Linksys router too, if that makes any difference.
I'm guessing the only thing that could be wrong is maybe the server is down, though I have the PC version and so does my friend and I can constantly log on.

YES YES YES!!111111
So that's it, IP change and I couldn't get online.
Time for my lvl 80 HUmar to be lvl 81! OH YEAH!
EDIT: Whoah, I have never played during Christmas time. Christmas trees are cool and nice music.
Also, never dev with the VMU your PSO save file is on. I nearly died because I thought I deleted my file on accident. (I have two white VMUs, I wiped the other one, thank god)
I just might backup my file with VMU tool just in case I do something stupid.

Still havent been able to get on, or configure my Webbrowser for that matter. Ive never had these problems before with dial up. Atleast then I could browse the web with my DC.
Is the planetweb 2.0 software compatible with a broadband connection?
Ive tried manually entering in all my info and ive tried DHCP, no matter what I do I get disconnected before the list of ships pop up.
Help a brotha out....
Edit: I just bought a 3.0 browser on Ebay. That should solve my problems, I hope... Playing PSO on DC again is proving to be expensive.
