DS games worth owning

Post by not just souLLy now »

I've just finished Mario Kart and I can tell that I'm gonna be needing another ds fix pretty soon. These are the games I have:

Mario 64DS
Wario Ware TOuched
Metroid Demo
Urbz
Project Rub
Nintendogs
Ping Pals
Advance Wars DS
Ridge Racer
Mario Kart DS

Any suggestions what I should get next? (Preferably not something I have to pay import prices for) I'm currently considering Castlevania, Sega Casino, James Pond, or the new Mario RPG game. Or is it worth holding on to my money for when animal crossing comes out?

Castlevanias good, you can get Trauma Centre at a very reasonable price from http://www.movietyme.com with very quick delivery, I'm going to suggest Jump Super Stars just because no 'recommend me DS games' topic is complete without it and I've recently been playing Tony Hawks American Sk8land to death - it was certainly worth the ?25 I paid for it, but I've always been a fan of the THPS games and this one a) is portable and b) has gone 'back to its roots' with the 2 minute runs with specific goals etc.

EDIT: if you had any games I wanted I'd offer you a trade for AC:WW, its not as fun as I thought it would be based on reviews etc - but I'm not a big MMORPG gamer, and that's basically what is, just without the MMO, or indeed the RPG.

Age of Empires is going to be out on DS in a few weeks. Resident Evil from what ive read of impressions is quite faithfull to the original, I never played the PS1 version so im going to be picking that up on its release.

Resident Evil comes out feb. 16 or 18, not sure which. The voice acting is hilarious, but you get to slash zombies with a knife using the stylus and touch screen :D

if there's anything in my list above that takes your fancy let me know, i'm not really an mmorpg player either but i'm intrigued to play animal crossing, it's probably not my thing especially since i wont play it wifi, but still.

ok my possibles list is now sonic, james pond, castlevania or wait for something else. cheers all.

Havent tried that yet in it but you can indecently assault the characters with the stylus though.
The upcoming black & white creatures looks like it may be an interesting one & with robocod theres an easy cheat of course, its been the same since it came out on the amiga

I regret buying sonic rush. Seeing as the game had great reviews I thought it would better than the recent sonic games. The special stages and boss fights are very unique. The graphics are great too.

The stages themselves suck though.

All around you on every stage there are drop off points. Yes, every stage. I have played sonic games before with drop-off points, but not in every stage.

The drop-offs take away from the sense of speed and add frustration. In short, the game is very hard and not very fun. If you memorized every detail of every stage it could be fun. It also follows the cliche format, get all the emeralds then become super sonic in the last stage.

The latest 2d sonic game I owned before this was sonic advance 1. It is a lot better than rush, but not as good as sonic 2 or 3.

The 7th of February in the US, and the 31st of March in Europe.

I was initially rather skeptical about the touch screen elements, but after giving the Japanese release a quick play, they really grew on me. You don't have to keep the stylus in your hand all the time - you have a few seconds to reach behind and grab it before they start attacking you. Whether you're meant to play it that way or not, it really did add to the suspense - like in a horror film where a character fumbles with his keys when being chases by an axe murderer.

Bleach DS is apparently great. I haven't gotten my copy yet, though. Pre-ordered it January 5th :( Import only.

Also, Jump Super Stars is pretty good. I haven't fully decided what I think of it, but I've put about 4.5 hours into unlocking stuff and it's fun. Supposed to take close to 20 to unlock everything. I can tell that this is like SSBM, and once I unlock everything, I'll never play it singleplayer again. I only know one other person with the game, and I don't think 1vs1 is quite interesting enough... So I might end up selling it eventually... Import only.

I can also reccomend Castlevania: DoS. Quite good with good replay value.

Band Brothers is very good if you like rhythmn games, as is Ouendan.

Oh and finally, Phoenix Wright is great. Excellent, pretty long game (between 10 and 15 hours).
