A couple of friends and I were up late last Saturday and decided to play with some audio equipment.
Mistakes were made.

What was up with that random kick drum near the end?
By the by, any song featuring a kazoo is a-ok with me!

Re: Fun with audio recording
Singer got too close and bumped into the mic stand
If this was a professional project, we'd redo the take. But it's not, and it was getting late, so we just decided to live with it.
We don't have any percussion beyond a couple of shakers and tambourines, because nobody has room for a drum kit. We didn't even have a bass for that recording, so we had to pitch-bend a Strat down an octave during post-production. It was... less successful than hoped, so I went out and bought a cheap Yamaha bass before the next session.
We've done a couple more in the meantime:
Hazy Shade of Winter (I really need to redo the mix on this one and get rid of one of those two not-quite-in-sync-with-each-other violin parts):
https://soundcloud.com/ian-a-walker/haz ... f-winter-1
Sunny Afternoon:

Each is a bit sloppy in its own way, but right now the main goal is just to feel each other out, get used to the gear, and have some fun.
Things should start getting more polished as we go.

Re: Fun with audio recording
Got a new track!
Code Monkey:
https://soundcloud.com/ian-a-walker/code-monkey
Kicking myself a little bit because I had the gain set too high on the lead vocals. It's not TOO bad, but it's a blemish on what otherwise would have been a nice, clean recording.
The fun thing in this one is that the percussion is rhythmic typing on an IBM Model F keyboard.
