When making a Genesis Plus CD, using SelfBoot Inducer...?

This forum is for discussion pertaining to homebrew and indie software for the Dreamcast, such as homebrew games, emulators/interpreters, and other homebrew software/applications. Porting requests and developmental ideas are not to be made here; you can make those here. If you need any help burning discs for homebrew software, this is the place to ask as well.

When making a Genesis Plus CD, using SelfBoot Inducer...?

Post by xXTimelessXx »

When I put the ROMs in the folder, do they have to be zipped? If so, Do they all have to be in one archive, or can they be? I need help with this. Do they specifically have to be .zip, or can they be .7z?

Here's the part that confused me...
# Copy your ROMs (*.zip) in C:/SBInducr/Inducer/gpwt/data/ROMS/ and run Provlst.exe
# Open ROMS.LST in Wordpad and replace ".SMC:" with ".ZIP " (space).

Help would be appreciated. Thanks.

It's been a long time since I've made a GenPlus disc, but I believe they all have to be in separate ZIP files.

I know that they have to be ZIP files. They cannot be RAR or 7z or tar or anything else.

I'm not sure if they have to be zipped or not. It's possible that the emulator is capable of reading bin (Genesis roms) files.

Okay, thanks.

So, I found this under the features list...
.GEN, .BIN, .SMD, and .ZIP support

So, that means the "*.ZIP" in the tutorial that I quoted was just an example? My ROMs are ".GEN", so basically, I just follow the tutorial as if ".ZIP" means ".GEN"?

Sorry, I'm really new to this and just don't want to waste anymore CD-Rs. XD

Here's the tutorial I was following...

Yeah, you can have them uncompressed. Of course you won't be able to put as many roms as if they were zipped, but it'll work.

So, my last post was correct? About the file-naming?

Never tried it but it should work with .bin = .gen files, yes.

No, I mean, about the tutorial. ".ZIP" = ".GEN"?

Thanks again.
