thing is, they are no longer working. i need to put a resistor on. thats what it looked like when i did it and it was working at first.

I wouldn't even be scared of doing it. The ONLY thing you do to the cube is solder the positive and negative legs to the cube.Smiley wrote:Very nice work, Lyingwake!!! I am jealous...I soo wannna do that mod to both of my cubes, but I'm afraid I'd f them up.
I soldered them to the bottom of my psu thing and the lights stayed on when the cube wasnt turned on. i need to splice either than fan's or the power source to the mobo's wires somehow and get it so the power is ran only when the cube is turned on.
i also need to put in a resistor cause the damn current it too high so it keeps blowing the first led.

i dont know what it is but i cant stop comming to these forums...
anyway i took some quick photos while i was working on the controller leds. i remembers i had some resistors when my 10-pk of 3mm leds i bought on ebay awhile back, so i used one. didn't proove to work out as good as i hoped.
i took the cover off with a $15 screwdriver and gamebit from ebay. before i remembered i should take pictures, i soldered a resistor onto the positive side of my series of leds.
now i strip the wires to the silver stuff on the 12v fan
now its striped.
i solder the positive side of the series on the grey wire and negitive to the black wire - the results we not pretty:

Say I keep my current series, which is a series of 4 LEDs. I don't doubt you about blue LEDs being 3.4v, but I believe when I bought these small 3mm blue LEDs, they were marked as 3.3v (typical voltage is 3.5v) at 20mA each.
Say I do keep my setup - what ohm resistor would you figure should work nicely? The resistor I used simply stated that they work for 12v and not much else.
EDIT: I got an e-mail from the seller. The resistor I used was a 470ohm 1/4w resistor.
