the dreamcast manual actually suggests that you open the lid, remove the disc, turn the power off, than close the lid.

as for painting use a paint called krylon fusion

You can change the fan, but its not really worth the effort unless the fan is dying

I used some paint meant for painting plastics (like lawn chairs and stuff). I wouldn't reccommend overclockning the Dreamcast unless you know what you're doing.

Why remove the disc? I always just open the lid (good because it sets the laser back to it default position) and then turn it off, and close the lid.

in my country, the sega dreamcast is more less impossible to obtain... and is equal with the games and the accesories. only you can obtain this products USED, is very hard obtain this NEW.

Open Lid.
Remove game.
Turn off Dreamcast.
Close Lid.
That way you invoke the dreamcast cd braking system, and ensure that the cd does not come flying out (worst case scenario)

You will not be able to find a Dreamcast new in many places, I am afraid. Maybe ebay. They still work used, and if a part seems broken in one, switch it out with a part from another Dreamcast.

For paints, use any paint that says "For use on plastics" (Para plasticos) or something similar.

Almost all kind of spray paint works on plastics. Look on the back at the substrates list for plastic.

Dreamcast is supposed to give out hot air. Don't overclock unless your good with electronics and don't mind risking the Dreamcast

As for opening it, theres many guides in the FAQ with pictures. Have a look, if you don't think you can do it, don't. If you do, don't be too tight with the screws.

As for paint, anything intended for plastic. Again, its in the FAQ

IN order to paint simply remove the modem and take out all the screws on the bottom.
I used model paint for mine
