Anyone here done the Modem LED mod?

Post by Caboose »

Has anyone here done the modem LED mod? I want to do it, but the diagram in the tutorial is unclear, and I would like to know where you have to solder the positive and negative wires to. If anyone has done it can you please take pics of the insides? I just need to know where to solder the wires.

I didn't take it apart, I just never put it back together. It works fine without that little shield.

hmm... you know what I was thinking of doing? putting an LED INSIDE the RJ-11 jack. that would look so freaking cool. you'd have to drill a hole in the side though, NOT THE BACK.

Wow, that looks like an easy mod to do. Where'd you stick the LED at?

No need to drill any holes, this is what I did with mine...

After opening mine up again to take these pictures, I think it would be a
good idea if I used some hot glue in there to diffuse a bit of that light.

Hope it gives you all some ideas.

Looks a lot cleaner. What type of wires did / do you use for this mod?

well i actually scavenged old controller wire. nothing too heavy duty. this also works well if you make a hole from the top and flatten the led.

I just use whatever wires worked. Small enough that I could close the metal sheilding piece without severing the wires.

I was more after the sizes since I'm not experienced in modding. Royhubbs recommended 20 gauge wires.
