I've got a spare system that does not spin discs anymore.
I looked online for a replacement motor/laser unit, or an individual motor but it seems that for dreamcast this part is a little harder to track down than it is with a ps2, gamecube, etc.
Where can you buy these things nowadays?
good place to buy replacement motor/laser unit?

Re: good place to buy replacement motor/laser unit?
Probably nowhere it'd be affordable.
I'd say try one of those cd-rom replacement guides out there, but that'd exclude running original gd-rom discs. The other option would be installing a bios mod in conjunction with dreamshell, and sd adapter. Both of the above solutions are hardware based though.
Good luck.
