How do I get the things out of there??

Being a newbie, I have no idea where to put this. If this is in the wrong place, please can a moderator relocate it.

I read that there are to be no ROM requests here but i wouldn't call this a request. I own several SNES cartriges and no ROMs; I was just wondering if there are any tutorials or if anybody could give me hints as how to get the ROMs out of the cartrige and onto my PC so they can be used with DreamSNES. I believe I currently posess all necessary equipment (I'm related to an ex-Nintendo Games producer).

A game producer at Nintendo may have some flash carts to test games, but I don't know if he would need equipment able to dump a cartridge to do his job. You may need to buy a cartridge copier.

Probably. Mainly because it's safer and much easier to download a verified good dump of a game than to dump it yourself. That's why GoodTools and TOSEC sets are so popular.

The funny thing is that the copiers itself could be considered to be illegal by certain companies' lawyers, and the process of backing up your games might be claimed to be illegal in certain countries.

However, it definitely is _not_ illegal to backup your own games. In fact, you can do whatever you like with them as these are your games. They've been sold to you.

Anyway, the rules of this forum do not allow discussion on how to backup your games or where to download them.

IIRC, in the US you can only backup legally to the same kind of medium due to the DMCA, which would mean individual SNES flash carts. But since you live in the UK you shouldn't have this problem.

Yes, cartridge copiers/backup units are the easiest way for you to do it by yourself, unless you find a way to build one.

Distributing commercial ROMs is illegal, but IMO downloading them should be legal when you have the original cartridge. I am sure nobody would get convicted for downloading games they've already paid for around here, which is a good thing since cartridge copiers are way too expensive for us and there are situations where it's impossible to extract the backup from your own cartridge (for example, when the cartridge gets damaged before you have a chance to backup it).

Nah. Thanks a lot for the help you've already provided though. I believe that, considering I'm inexperienced in this field, I don't quite have the expertise to work out how to do it myself. I will in time though, and i'll come back with an answer to this!!!
