Anyone have a way to get KOS to Compile on Mingw?

Post by Rizzoislandgame »

Hey there! I was following that tutorial on this site that shows you how to compile stuff on Mingw that seems to be outdated. It has links that are broken and it just won't compile no matter what I do! Can someone help me out and put up a new tutorial for the latest version of mingw so I can have a windows compiling environment? My machine is getting too slow from all my files to keep using a linux virtual machine.

Please either post the instructions on this page and I'll copy the stuff to this top post, or link me to the new post.

Also, for some reason Cygwin just doesn't want to compile KOS toolchain on my computer either! It just gives me a make error which also happens everytime I try to make something!

I think the suggestion that nymus is alluding to is to try using the Windows Subsystem for Linux to effectively install Linux inside of Windows and use that to build your toolchain, instead of trying to use MinGW or Cygwin.

You can find information on that on Microsoft's website here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/window ... tall-win10

Yes, thanks for clarifying. I found myself in a mental loop wondering if I should suggest using the Linux subsystem if you weren't running Windows 10. I also haven't tried it so I also asked myself if I should try it first.

Please let us know how it goes.

Just a quick update, I won’t be able to try this till the 19th as I’m going on a trip from today till July 17th. If any of you could try it out before me, that would be awesome!

Just a quick note, I believe I tried this before, but when compiling DC-Chain it gave an Error 2 error and didn’t finish compiling everything

Here you go! Complete tutorial! Very barebones, but this is the basics.
