Resistance: Fall of Man (PS3)
It may be old and outdated compared to recent shooters, but I loved the sequel's campaign and had to check out the first one.

What's wrong with Modnation Racers? It's LittleBig Mario Kart. It's not amazing but very cool.Hasney wrote:If I deleted Luriden's posts, this page wouldn't have a single poor purchase decision. Good work.

Several NES cartridges:
- Megaman 2
- Megaman 3
- Ninja Gaiden
- Ninja Gaiden 2
...also, nearly done with DKC Returns. It's bloody awesome, exactly what I hoped it would be. It makes clever use of the world themes in the level design, it's challenging with a good difficulty curve, and it's fun. I do wish the vehicle (mine cart & rocket barrel) levels would have been more spread out rather than almost all concentrated in the cave world, but that's a very minor complaint.

I've tried playing that game twice now, and both times I got so frustrated with the controls I quit before even starting the second world. And it's even more frustrating because the DKC series was probably my favorite SNES series. I played through all three games dozens of times. Hell, I'm playing the original one right now.DaMadFiddler wrote:...also, nearly done with DKC Returns. It's bloody awesome, exactly what I hoped it would be. Re: Post everytime that you buy a new game...
I loved the first one (it was one of my favorite games for possibly my favorite console), but the second one was only tolerable and the third I just can't stand. But on a related note:melancholy wrote:And it's even more frustrating because the DKC series was probably my favorite SNES series. I played through all three games dozens of times. Went to the thrift store today, and they just happen to have a clean, non-faded SNES. It was $15, and games were $2.50 apiece. Most of it was sports, but I did get the following:
- Donkey Kong Country
- Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past
- Super Ghouls & Ghosts
- Super Star Wars
- Super Return of the Jedi
- Super Game Boy adapter
Not bad for $30
And I picked up an NES Max controller. They also had a PS2 for $15, but since we have a launch-model PS3, it wouldn't really have served any purpose.

Re: Post everytime that you buy a new game...
My girlfriend just finished this game. The graphics are really dated, but the gameplay has a lot of variety and the story is really good. Be sure to do all three playthroughs (and get all the weapons) to get the full impact of the story and the final ending.BoneyCork wrote:Nier
Be prepared, though, it's possibly the most depressing story I've ever seen in any medium; it would make Joss Whedon jealous. Eva's response upon finishing it was that it have been called "Nier: And Then Shit Gets Worse."

...and yet more retrogames. What can I say? We've got a thrift store that gets old gaming equipment in frequently; NES games are $1.50, and SNES games are $2.50. Controllers are $3 to $5, and systems are $8-$25.
Today's haul includes:
- an SNES controller
- Super Castlevania IV
- F-Zero
- Killer Instinct

60GB PS3
DualShock 3
PS1/PS2 Memory Card Adapter
Little Big Planet: GOTY Edition
I was totally ripped off on the 40GB Kiosk Unit I bought, so I sent it back for a refund and put it towards this purchase. Of course, though, USPS damaged the Kiosk Unit somewhere over the course of 100 miles. -_-
Fortunately, I know that USPS is shit, so it was insured. Unfortunately, it might mean I'll have to deal with the horrendously mediocre service they offer again.
