I like to laugh at an old comic book ad that said something to the effect of "Now every kid can have GI JOE: THE MOVIE at home! Only $29.99 on VHS!"

Yeah, eventually. But if you wanted both when they launched, you were SOL. Plus, if you bought the Sonic 1+Genesis bundle, would you have bought the Sonic 2 bundle as well?

Personally speaking I am a cautious buyer it is no discrimination towards a particular brand I've never ever picked up a game on full price and I never intend to, especially since it is almost a guaranteed fact that in 6 months you can always pick them up half price or less.

Recently I bought Alan Wake Limited Edition Brand New for 30$.

I remember the secondary market wasn't too kind, either. I think I bought a second-hand copy of Super Street Fighter 2: New Challengers for the Genesis for $60 USD in ~1997.

Basically there is a short window with certain games or hardware.

Remember a few months after Dreamcast's broad band adapters release it was in discount bins and now it is worth double or triple of what it was.

The only time game prices directly went up was with the top 3 Euro exclusives
Head Hunter, Shenmue, Rez. Their prices never went down.

Sonic 4: Episode II will be the last:
It looks like Sega took lessons in the Valve School of Episodic Gaming, as the company is "not planning" to release any further episodes of Sonic the Hedgehog 4 after Episode 2. The news comes from Sonic Team producer Takashi Iizuka, who told Digital Spy that, while the team is "looking forward to hearing the feedback" on Episode 2, it is "not planning to release another episode."

We're hoping Sonic Team hasn't already worked a cliffhanger ending into Episode 2. Is Robotnik really Sonic's father? Will Big the Cat always be frozen in carbonite? Just what is up with Tails anyway? Frankly, we don't think we can live with questions like that.
