DreamEdge: Chui's EDGE (DOOM) port to Dreamcast

Talk about Quake, Doom, Wolfenstein 3D, or other DC first person shooting game ports and mods for those games in here.

Wait, aren't you calling yourself 3dfx Development? That has everything to do with 3dfx as far as I can tell.

Nothing to do with Fusion (the name of this modification), and nothing to do with this thread. It's explained in the wiki, several times, under the TDG entry.

I have explicitly noted that it has nothing to do with 3dfx Development numerous times. It's being ran by TDGMods, and we're just a group of casual people. There are no links, literally, other than it's being hosted on the 3dfxdev.net server. What I'm doing with that and with TDG are completely different.

Hope that clears things up a bit. ^^

Yes, you can load mods but they have to be 1.29 compliant. I'm not sure about 1.27 or 1.28 stuff. Anything made with 1.31 or above cannot be ran with it.

Fusion is doing double development for both 1.29 and 1.31 to achieve this.

How do you load mods? It would be nice to see see some way to launch multiple mods.

I haven't been able to get it to load DOOM1 yet. - In fact I haven't been able to selfboot it with the original FreeDoom WADs that came with it. It just reboots somewhere down the road.

Someone had more luck ?

Wow, I didn't mean to bump such an old thread. ^^

Just letting you know, Fusion's been abandoned for the time being. Now working on this. It's also for Dreamcast using a forked version of Chui's engine. Everything you see in those screenshots are just replaced with high-quality sprites. Otherwise, everything is the same.

You might recognize the game. I'm taking the whole premise of Blood and updating it. =)

EDGE. Based on the Doom technology. It was ported by Chui and we forked from there.

I would like to obtain someone's permission in adding the title to the list of games at /dcemulation.org?

About the engine? We released the Dreamcast version through this site not too long ago, though it's an early version, you can still run/play/mod/etc for it. The PC version is always in active development.

The Q2-based codebase, or the Doom one? Is it on Github?

Also, are you guys using the software renderer or the GL backend? Are you using KallistiOS KGL or GL?

It's 3DGE, using KGL. It's running on the OGL backend (we eliminated software rendering from the source port a long time ago).

The latest version (1.29) is on our sourceforge page, http://edge2.sf.net. Be sure to look for the KOS (Dream3DGE) and not 3DGE 1.36+.
