Re: Do we possibly know members of LulzSec?

Yeah, that's what I was hinting at when I quoted using "bold" to emphasize specific words. I didn't think I needed to spell it out. And you're welcome Jeeba. Wow, I gave you way too much credit. I thought you were poking fun at the fact that most of the active members here don't really ev...

Re: Dreamcast Media Center

But, what did you end up deciding about sending multi-channel streams to the SPU? Would it be possible to send 6-ch wave to the SPU, and let the hardware do the mixing? Or is data transfer too slow to send 6-ch wave to the SPU in real-time? Don't know. I have tested 44k/16bit stereo wav and it's fa...

Re: I herd you liek half life...and Dreamcast:D

How many? Enough to be significantly remembered in 5-10 years? Don't get me wrong, I'll always have fond memories of the console, I just think that outside of our relatively small circle, it's more or less forgotten. I used to think like this. In the past 5 or so years though, I've noticed that eve...

What's interesting is that someone in their graphics department found some 15ish year old stock photo for the Sega CDX.

Re: Dreamcast Media Center

Hmm - we've pretty thoroughly hijacked this thread. Perhaps one of the mods could split this into its own thread? It's just hard to believe that a 22.5 MHz ARM7DI would get less than 3 MIPS. Just look at the charts... even the early architectures got better MIPS at much lower clock rates. http://en...

Re: Dreamcast Media Center

That was all conjecture. I rather doubt the AICA keeps the registers in ram - that's just plain silly and was only even suggested because it was the only way the person could think of using ram cycles to slow the ARM. It's more likely like Quzar mentioned - that speed control for the ARM... perhaps...

Re: A serious question for our intelligent members.

Another reason: ponder on how many things would actually need to be modified or added (especially in the case of exclusives) in order to support KB/Mouse in terms of HUD, tutorials, QTEs, etc. Many games have a lot of features tied to the colors or letters on the controllers, and it would be weird/u...

Re: Has anybody ever smoked weed and killed somebody?

This happened right down the street from my house. I remember it well because I knew schoolmates of the victim. It also involves alcohol, and cellphones, so it's a trifecta of bad driving ideas.

ET for the Atari. As a kid I didn't have the instruction booklet, and it seemed like everything I did the FBI would just come after me. Shenmue, the warehouse sneak scene. I actually missed the (in game) winter deadline for completing the first game due to spending a month trying to sneak into the w...

The only difference I've ever heard is the sizes of the capacitors which would change the colors slightly. That and just overall quality of craftsmanship of the box itself. That being said, I like my third party boxes one of which has two mini-jack outputs for audio (which makes using headphones pos...

Re: bitmaster's IDE/G2 interface aka DREAMCAST HARD DRIVE>!!!

What about putting an sdiso of the OS on a sd card and launching it via Dreamshell? It would be able to boot without the GDR drive and everybody is happy. With the Dreamshell bios mod, you could have this fully working with no moving parts but the HDD. Anyway, while the SD adapters are no tr...

Re: So I've got off the ground.

This actually could be a problem with GCC....Does newlines get read in as part of a string with std::getline() for fstream or something similar? Because hardcoding the path makes it run fine :o I have to admit I'm a Visual Studio fan.... :( Quite possibly. I know if you're using the C function fget...

Re: So I've got off the ground.

What it looks like is happening is that png_to_texture is unable to open the file, but there isn't any short-circuiting, so what happens is you end up passing a kos_img_t with garbage in it.

If you could post the relevant section of your code, it might be more apparent what the problem is.

I recommend anything by Twain. I have a set of his complete works and never fail to be interested by them. Heinlein is great if you're into speculative type Sci-Fi. His short stories and novels create a single coherent universe and timeline that is quite fun.

Re: I bought an iPad 2! What apps do I need?

Why are so many things "stripped-down"? I'm pretty sure I've owned computers that are far weaker than the iPad but ran programs capable of far more. Because these things are being written from scratch (how many different word processing suites are there out there?) and features take time ...

I'm so happy to have a well paying job. Network monitoring, a mix of level 1 and 2 support for a handful of customers, as well as in-house developers. 1800$ every two weeks. Not enough to pay for my degree, but plenty to live on.

Re: New KOS Keyboard driver. Testing needed.

The basic idea of most of my rewrite is that the keyboard already delivers raw data to KOS in a very easily consumable format, one that would be extremely simple to use for games without key up events (and no more difficult than the matrix system for those without) so why have all this extra proces...
