Re: PSO on the Wii [Guide] [Info]
Do you press the red button on the wii first? Maybe the wifi log would show why it's not connecting.

An XBOX 360 wired controller with a chatpad also works pretty well as a substitute for the ridiculous looking gamecube keyboard controller.

After a false start where the wifi decided to drop out mid-quest (leaving me standing helpless beside a red box) I can confirm it works.

Re: Screenshots Thread
Every time I reach the end of Maximum Attack 2 and use the computer to register my points, the server disconnects:
The "Registration completed" message appears on its own after a while if I don't press start to clear the disconnected error.

Re: Able to connect with us version but not jp+ version anym
Sounds like maybe the JP+ servers aren't being handled by sylverant's DNS?
Edit: yeah, looks like the JP version wants pso-gc01.sonic.isao.net but it's gone missing from Sylverant's DNS?

Re: PSO Questions & Answers
For dial-up you normally just get a phone number to dial and a username+password to log in with. It's not tied to any specific landline or anything, just be aware of long distance charges if it's not a local call.

Re: Screenshots Thread
I missed something; when playing online the libc rand() function isn't used, instead it's taken from a small object-specific entropy pool. Can't seem to find where this pool gets initialized during object creation...

Re: Screenshots Thread
Remember, PSO has a really crappy PRNG. They'll come in batches when you find them. I actually looked up the rare monster test in the code. It's basically this: uint32_t r = rand(); // generic libc rand: state = state * 1103515245 + 12345, out = (state>>16)&0x7FFF float chance = (float)r...

Does the story really make sense anyway? How did Rico enter the ruins if the seal is still in place when the player gets there?

Offline quests aren't going to show up when you're online.

Re: PPP Server for Devolution (and other assorted questions)
I'm not sure what distro my VPS has, surely some old as fuck thing that can't be upgraded without breaking OpenVZ. But slirp was built from slirp_1.0.17-4.debian.tar.gz.

Re: PPP Server for Devolution (and other assorted questions)
Weird, I don't remember needing to do that. Perhaps there's something different in my slirp source. It should be ok for all the clients to have the same IP, I don't think they communicate directly i.e. all communication is done through the PSO server. Direct communication wouldn't work with people b...

Re: PPP Server for Devolution (and other assorted questions)
Just a hunch from looking at the packet captures, I think PSO doesn't like the IP address being offered by slirp. I'll check closer later.

You're probably going to end up learning more about PPP/IPCP/LCP/IP/TCP than you ever wanted
Edit: BlueCrab: probably want to split this to a different thread, there's a chance we might go on for a while.

Re: PSO Questions & Answers
You don't need to setup chap-secrets, it's only used to verify the username and password. If it isn't specified slirp will just accept anything. There is no extra setup needed (no .slirprc) with the command line I posted. You might need to hack up slirp to dump all input/output and then figure out h...
