Re: MP3 playback

Well like i said earlier, i followed the link you provided. I have downloaded the complete source code of DreamShell. I have found a directory called "mpg123" in the path "DreamShell/modules/mp3/libmp3/". Now i just want to include the replay routines of this directory to my main code (and not using...

VMU and beep

I have tried to use the function vmu_beep_raw to make VMU singing some beeps ...
But as explained in KOS, the parameter to use is a integer which is not documented.
I try some integer values but nothing happens.

Is someone succeeded ?

Thanks for your help.

Re: About 50/60 Hz

1) I have a 50 Hz display PAL monitor, my brother own two of them and i am not the only one :

2) changing video mode between two draw calls does not affect display of texture.

Re: About 50/60 Hz

Just to summarize : 1) Dreamcast is american or japan So only DM_640x480_NTSC_IL 2) Dreamcast hooked with VGA box So only DM_640x480_NTSC_IL 3) Dreamcast is european and not hooked with VGA box Choose between DM_640x480_NTSC_IL OR DM_640x480_PAL_IL is that right ? And is there any risk to call vid_s...

Re: VMU Blocs and so ...

I decide to use the first method to find out free blocks. To know how big your file will be (before you write it), take the size in bytes and add the size of the VMU header (including any icons you might use). Then, round it up to the next 512 byte increment, and divide by 512. That's the number of ...

VMU Blocs and so ...

Hi everybody, In my way to handle Hz resolution, i decide to save the user choice on VMU. I coded some routs to load / save a very basic file, but i have two problems. 1) how to know the number of blocs the file i made is wide ? (i use the VMU package structure and code). 2) i do not know how to cou...

Re: About 50/60 Hz

By default, on init, KOS does a vid_set_mode(DM_640x480, PM_RGB565), which as I mentioned will select either DM_640x480_VGA or DM_640x480_NTSC_IL depending on the cable attached. Well, i did not see where in pvr_init_defaults() the video mode is set. int pvr_init_defaults() { pvr_init_params_t para...

Re: About 50/60 Hz

So, lets imagine someone somewhere in this planet having a 50hz display screen.

This person have a Dreamcast hooked up to this screen.

Suddenly he puts a CD Rom on the Dreamcast, the CD Rom contains an auto boot kos pvr_init_default() compiled code.

What will happen ? the screen will burn ?

About 50/60 Hz

Well, i use the pvr functions to set video and display things on the screen. Reading a post about strange behavior about pal /ntsc mode, suddenly a question knock my head ... Using PVR default initialization, is the hardware able to detect type of frequency resolution to perform itself ? If yes, is ...

Re: About sq_set16 and framebuffer

Well i do not want to mix use of PVR functions (pvr_wait_ready(), pvr_shutdown ( ), pvr_init()) and old video functions (vid_waitvbl(), vid_empty(), vid_set_mode()). I found something : void vid_empty() { /* We'll use the actual base address here since the vram_* pointers can now move around */ sq_c...

Re: VMU programming in C language ?

VMU is a Sanyo LC8670 (8-bit CPU). To code in C for that target you must find a GCC version for that hardware.

Re: About sq_set16 and framebuffer

To tell you the truth, i do not use the functions in <dc/video.h>.
I use simply the PVR init function with default values.
So i doubt calling vid_clear() could clean the frame buffer ... am i right ?

Re: MP3 playback

For the legal side : thanks, i do not think about that issue even if i do not imagine black suits guys coming after me. For the technical side : is Ogg Vorbis replay routine as much quick as MP3 replay routine ? I need something that do not kill 80% of CPU time you know :) I found a "liboggvorbis" f...
