PVR hardware flip

Hi everybody,

I want to know if it is possible to use PVR hardware only (no SH4 bytes processing or intermediate texture caching) to horizontal flip a texture stored in video ram and draw it straight on screen.

Thanks for help.

Re: Some precisions needed

Ah... You must be using a fairly old version of KOS for the last parameter to not be available. You're not missing much with just that part, but you still probably should consider updating for all the other stuff that has changed in at least the last year and a quarter (the Translucent Autosort par...

Re: Some precisions needed

Thanks for answers. Do not worry it's only a test code :) To twiddle the texture i use : void TextureTwiddle16bpp(Pixel16 * src, Pixel16 * dst, int w, int h) { uint32 x, y, min, min2, mask; min = MIN(w, h); min2 = min * min; mask = min - 1; for(y = 0; y < h; y++) for(x = 0; x < w; x++) dst[TWIDOUT(x...

Re: Some precisions needed

Hello, Sorry for the late answer but i had to test the "PT" texture drawing. First, i use my own code and it's not working. So i try with a raw drawing method and it's not working too. I have made tests with ARGB1555 and VQ ARGB1555 textures generated by a tool here : https://github.com/tvspelsfreak...

Re: Some precisions needed

Hi, Thanks a lot for your answser. As i understand, drawing a list of "Punch-thrus" polygons is quite fast as drawing a list of "transparent" polygons. Can we say that a polygon having a 16 bits 1555 texture (compressed as VQ or not) is a "Punch-thrus" polygon ? My app draws only 2D sprites as list ...

Some precisions needed

I have heard about "twiddled" texture, it seems it is usefull for 4 or 8 bits textures only so no need to twiddling texture for 16 bits (even VQ ones) ?

I have heard too about "punch-through geometry" list what it is ?

Re: Upcoming KOS release - Testing needed

Ok intterresting, but why do you want to add a set 5.xx detection function ?
Why not include a "all set x.xx" detection function for example ?
Is there a special reason ?

Graphic help requested

Hi everybody, I am starting a game project for Dreamcast. I have made a POC (proof of concept) with my own assets. The result sounds good enough for tests but not for release as i am not a graphist at all ... :) I need a 2D graphic artist to draw backgrounds (several layers) and character assets for...

Re: KOS snd_sfx_play problem

This is not possible to use "KOS fx sound system" to play background music. The only way is using "KOS stream system". The replay is perfect if all sound is in memory cache. You can use MP3, OGG, ADX stream replay routines in KOS PORTS. Using MP3 or OGG take time, ADX is faster ( around 1% CPU time)...

Re: Question about sound Fx length and volume

Ok, i manage to make it with your tips :)
Work great like a charm.

Now a last question about stream :
when i submit mono / stereo WAV data to the stream system, is it played mono /stereo ?
Is it played always stereo ?
Is there something to switch to mono / stereo playback ?

Thanks.

Re: Question about sound Fx length and volume

OK, i understand. Let's say i want very basic stream playing with no decoding routine at all. I have something like a big bytes array full of the data of a WAV sample file into main memory. So i want to stream those data to the sound card to play the sound. I imagine all the functions i must use to ...

I want to use this sound as a background music in fact because i have no more CPU time to decompress a steam neither MP3 nor ADX. The screen could not be speed up because the code make a lot of interesting ...

Thanks, i fix it.

Re: VMU and beep

Ok i have tested the bin included in the archive. It makes sound for value 0x000065F0, but there is a warning : Warning: I'm not sure the effect this will have on the VMU's internal clock. I recommend re-syncing the clock after testing. As i want to beep at any VMU access is that dangerous for user ...
