And correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't version 6 only allow player 1 to control the menu already?
Well, version 7 does that now too. ^_^;

The controller code is complicated; I'll try again in a couple days.

Does that disable the menus for everyone or for all but player 1?

the autorun on the GDrom activates the screensaver install program, infecting the pc.
And if you have autorun disabled, just don't run the screensaver installer. ^_^

Well, I can try again, or you could try this: plug a normal DC controller into port 1 and your NES pads into ports 2 and 3. If that doesn't do it I'll try and figure out what went wrong, but Nester is one mother of a complicated program.

Sent, check your email. It SHOULD ignore the triggers (and the C button, if you use an arcade stick), only for player 1. Make sure you just use regular DC controllers when you test and don't set anything funky, at least not at first. If anyone else would like this let me know.

Finished!!! I think it'll work, and all I had to do was comment out ONE LINE. It took me a good 20-30 minutes to figure out which line, but I did it. ^_^ Untested, however. If anyone wants to test it, post here. (I be teh lazy) Lartrak, post some way to send this to you here and i'll get it on over ...

I'll have a look at it. You want only player 1 to have control functions (QUIT, access that funky menu, etc.), right? This should take me about half an hour once I boot Linux, I can have it for you in 3 days, or I won't have it at all. (not sure if I can get source) EDIT: I think I can do it, I foun...

there was a dreamcast game that had a virus, but this isn't a threat since it was a computer virus that didn't do anything on the DC. This program seems dumb.. like you just wanna feel power or something for having something dangerous... there's already a file that lets u flash the eprom (or w/e it...

The "virus" is just a couple function call. There's now a function in CVS-KOS called flashrom_delete, it's what the program uses. For the record, no one other than me has a binary of the virus, and only one other person has source. It took MAYBE 30 minutes to write. On a happier note, my f...

Actually, the reader you mention was written by me BEFORE this virus, it just needs to be tested. I think I'll do that shortly...(I dun have a coders' cable, and my CD burner isn't set up on this laptop yet either) Keep in mind it's only a beta, and can't selectively erase yet.

Heh...Can we put it up on the site and direct people asking for illegal software to it? =P I don't get many warez requests, personally, and I'd love to know what consequences running this program has.

Since this doesn't help him at all...it's caused by the laser having to look around the disc in funny spots because the game isn't on a GD-ROM. You're SOL.

A virus isn't just a program that does bad stuff, it has to copy itself into your programs and run when they start, hence the "virus/trojan/thingy" label. I wonder if this could be attached to warez to really screw over warez monkeys...=P

I don't know, it's untested. What I know: There are five partitions, 0 through 4. Partition 0 is read-only, and partition 1 is reserved (probably writable). The program only tries to delete partitions 2 through 4 right now. All I KNOW is that the system configuration stuff (language, audio, autostar...

No way in hell is the DC going to manage DWI or Stepmania...Stepmania is slow on my Pentium III laptop, and DWI isn't open source. There's a slim chance DWI might be portable, it DOES use SDL, which is supported on Dreamcast. If you could get he source out of SimWolf, I might look into porting it ov...

Dreamcast Virus/Trojan Thingy

I've written a program to clear most of the Dreamcast's Flash ROM pretty much as soon as it boots. It's probably the firstish DC trojan. Go me? =)

So...anyone want to try it out? :P
