oops i just read the topic and i got it the wrong way around i mean is it ok to use a pal psu on a jap dc which u guys have answered
but after trying the pal psu the jap dc still wont power up so i guess a component or 2 have blown on the mb...

homer: if the fan in ur DC is broken then ur only option is to get another DC fan of the SAME kind, the DC is specific on the voltage or resistance of the fan...
maybe u can buy a broken DC but with the fan working for cheap (which was what i did) or buy a new one...

i tried soldering wires directly to the stick's circiut board but it would register as all buttons being pressed at the same time on the psx so i think it has something to do with the maple bus... the only way is to make a cut-off point on every wire make switches for EVERY button but that would res...

well DC's are very hard to find in NZ now, a place called Gamesman still has DC's but for a hefty price of $270NZ but they have original DC arcade sticks for only $40NZ which is around $15US or so...

i actually put up and ad for broken DC's for NZ$25 and some guy actually called and his DC only had a prob of not working after 30mins or so so i bought and just changed the fan and everything was back to normal
i think i'm the only one from NZ lol

thanks a lot for ur efforts to help me out but i have tried what u have suggested but nothing seems to work :(
I think the DC has this feature to protect itself from overheating so I guess the only thing is to get order a new fan

my fan had died recently and now when i turn it on it would reset itself every couple of seconds so i extended the pins to fit anther fan (60mm CPU fan) but it would still do the same. so i'm guessing the DC needs a fan with a specific voltage or resistance and a funny things is if i touch the pins ...
