Lets use some business logic here. The cost factor to produce a DC is way over 49.99 USD. This is what Sega is selling them for now, so they can get rid of the inventory. As for a third party building the units: Yes they could cut production costs...lets say 50 bucks a unit (just a guess not a fact)...
