Markdown for documentation?
Does anyone use Markdown (or a variant) for documentation? I've started seeing several projects with things like README.md in their documentation directories. Several corporations I know of are using it as well. I actually like the concept, although some of the ways that styling is done aren't the w...

Re: Bootdreams 1.0.6
You could, but it looks like they were written in Visual Basic 6, which was a commercial programming language. Most likely after building it, your anti-virus software would still complain. I doubt you would find a virus on Google's code hosting site after the last release was two years ago. If you'r...

Photos of Dreamcast
I took some photos of the Dreamcast today while dismantling it. I'm sure there are plenty already out there, but here are some that I took: http://senkbeil.no-ip.org/tmp/photos/ These aren't resized from my camera and I'm not sure if I can resize images with BB tags; so, I'm only going to show one h...

Re: Depressed about Dreamcast...
Isn't it still available through archive.org?

Not sure if all of the images are still around, but it has a surprising amount of them for a backup.

Ah, gotcha. That makes a little more sense. I've just been too spoiled with packages and build tools handling everything in one step.BlueCrab wrote:EDIT: You apparently noticed this as I was posting. That said, dc-tool isn't a dependency of KOS itself, so one really can't say KOS requires libelf.

Missing libelf.h [Resolved]
So, with a new installation comes a new build of KallistiOS for me. It appeared to go smoothly this time, both with the toolchain and with kos itself. From what I can see, kos-ports also built correctly. My issue is with building dcload-ip. Running make (with the configurations changes set) yields a...

Creating Packages for KallistiOS
So, this topic is MOSTLY going to be about creating Linux packages for KallistiOS, but I wanted to ask a quick question beforehand. I was looking at the most recent update to the repository and saw that three days ago dcload was removed. Was there a reason for that? Are there plans to bring it back?...

Re: Building a 4.5.2 toolchain for MINGW WIN32 (tutorial)
Mm... I haven't used MinGW in awhile. I know when I had it installed, it was around 120 MB or so, but that was about four or five years ago; so, I'm not sure. It may have gone up in size.

Re: Game Development - Where to start?
Well, you described that you have some experience with a programming language; so, what have you worked with in the past? For game development, the obvious choices are still C/C++ with C++ being useful if you use it with an object-oriented approach in mind and C being good for embedded platforms and...

Re: New game: REDUX (sequel to DUX)--Kickstarter exclusive
Just registered and provided a $100 backing for the Dreamcast version. I agree in terms of wanting to see other genres being pumped out, but that won't stop me from supporting Dreamcast development. After all, I know that I would want others to support me with the game I'm working on.

Re: Dreamcast Site Backups + TakoTako is Back!
Thanks for your efforts. We have a mirrors section on our site but it hasn't been maintained much. In the last few days I have attempted to look up some DC information and the amount of sites that have gone down is pretty sad. Good to know and, yes, it is depressing to see so much information lost....

Re: Revisiting OpenGL
So, another thought crossed my mind. This may be entirely ludicrous, but I want to run it by someone. This is all hypothetical. Assume that we have the entire G2 bus (that is the bus for the modem, right?) mapped out and fully understand how to make parts to integrate with it. With the broadband ada...

Re: Dreamcast Site Backups + TakoTako is Back!
Yeah, sure. I'm constructing my own Dreamcast section that'll include this, but I'll put the direct links up here as well. Hopefully it'll be a little more updated with regard to information compared to some of the current sites, although it won't be nearly as in depth. Updated on the main page.

Re: Is there a Linux app for (de)scrambling binaries?
I've got the c file that supposedly does the job. Granted, I've never successfully tested it as I ended up using a Nero image to create my dctool disc; however, this c file is provided on several Dreamcast homebrew websites. http://senkbeil.no-ip.org/files/dc/src/scramble.c [EDIT] Oh, wait, sorry. T...

Dreamcast Site Backups + TakoTako is Back!
So, I've got a nice collection of Dreamcast website backups going that I'm uploading to my own site. I'll provide archived tar.gz files if anyone wants one. These are by no means meant to replace existing websites. They're more for a preemptive archive in the chance that some of these websites disap...

Revisiting OpenGL + G2 GPU?
So, I've been looking at the port of OpenGL for KallistiOS and reading older topics regarding thoughts on its performance and capabilities. The Dreamcast uses the PowerVR CLX2 as its GPU, which has 8 MB of memory. Half of that memory is taken up by the framebuffer and other necessities; so, we actua...
