Re: Sbi & Plain File Differences
I can't find this anywhere, but are there any differences in the programs binary in sbi files and plain files? The sbi bin is unscrambled, and the plain files(selfbooting) is scrambled. Am I right on this? It depends how the plainfiles were originally released, sometimes plainfiles are released as ...

Re: Dreamcast Optical Storage Medium is shit!
Then can you please point us to a better place because this right here: Due to the high density nature of a GD-ROM disc, the data layer is very fragile and small smudges and scratches can potentially render a game unplayable. That's a pretty open statement, it's a bit like saying drinking alcohol c...

Re: VGA question
one of the biggest issues with games in forced vga is them displaying on 1/4 of the screen. This happens because the resolution of display changes to 640x480 but all the data is designed for 320x240. I never ever experienced that. Got any example ? That would most likely be the problem someone was ...

Re: Dreamcast Optical Storage Medium is shit!
You really can't compare the original PS1 optical media to the original DC optical media, they are entirely different entities, one is practically the propriety format (CD), the other is a unique to system format (GD). As for the PS1 and DC reading CDR's, there's no comparison whatsoever - the PS1 d...

Re: GOAT Publishing: An Open Letter to the Dreamcast Community
Unfortunately I can't pass on any comments about Grizzlies, but judging by what GyroVorbis has said (and probably what other beta testers would say), the game seems to be commercial quality, and it would be a real shame to just let it lay dormant. Of course it's easy to say release it to the communi...

Re: Dividead burning help??
The 1st_read.bin provided with the Divi-Dead download is unscrambled, you need to scramble it to make the CD self boot.
Note: unscrambling a previously unscrambled binary will probably render it useless, replace the 1st_read.bin with the one from the download before creating a new CD.

Re: GOAT Publishing: An Open Letter to the Dreamcast Community
As I read it, he's basically saying "it's all the developer's fault for bringing us crap"? That's a little harsh Quzar (I have to agree with your point of view though, even if it is brutal in it's honesty), the way I read it is that some of the games had flaws (crap would be a less diplom...

Re: Upcoming commercial Deamcast games (2008/2009)
I have a preview CD of it that Metafox had made for the DreamCons in '05. I had emailed the goat store to ask about releasing it but never got any reply =\. It has demos of Bryx, Copper Swapper, DCSquares, Dziokozit, and Grizzlies. What about contacting the coders directly?, maybe they'll give perm...

Re: Wolf4SDL\DC 1.6 Released...
That`s great ! :) Where can i find full version - ready to burn ? Wolf4SDL\DC and the full version of the game can not be distributed as a CD Image, the game is commercial, still under copyright and available to purchase, it is not freeware. The shareware version and the full version can be obtaine...

Re: Golden Axe Remake DC
One is a homebrew remake, the other is a commercial game. It really is as simple as that. Is it to much to expect from a homebrew game to exceed nearly a 20 year old game in terms of quality? How do you expect a twenty year old game that has it's data ripped and added into a different game engine (...

Ritz_UK: if you still want a refund for the mag, I'll send it to you.
I'm not defending MetaFox for what he did, I'd just like to see this dark chapter of the community finished once and for all.

Re: New version of XDP released!
Has this site's stance towards the hacked browser changed?
I'm only asking because a lot of info was deleted a long time ago (even though you can still find download links via search) and there seemed to be a time when everyone frowned on the whole project.

Why has no one pirated this stuff? You give so much credence to the stupidity theory!. Besides the obsidian-lemec loader, Why has absolutely no one played with this stuff? Strictly for educational purposes. Who says no one hasn't?. Ginsu=Sega's official menu system for swapping programs (take that ...

Re: NeoGeo Pocket Emulator
No, they aren't. RACE is by far the best NeoGeo Pocket emulator for Dreamcast. Don't be so harsh Chris, NeoPocott DC and NeoPop really are worth a try, ok, so they're not the best as in speed/compatibility, but they really are worth throwing on a CDR along with RACE. OT Chris: we really should get ...

The simplest way is to download and burn this CD image (hosted on this site), pop it in your DC and boot up: http://devcast.dcemulation.org/DCflash.nrg Read this thread about it (some were getting problems burning with certain versions of Nero): http://dcemulation.org/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=...

Re: Smash Pack programmer wanted Echelon to release ROM Loader
Hypocricy is probably a very good one word description of what's happening with dumping GD's in general, but let the one without sin cast the first stone. Hypocrisy would be to think SNES ROMs are okay to discuss in 2001 but think GD-ROM dump discussion is off-limits in 2008. Sharing them is, of co...
