where can I buy a 2 axis analog joystick ...

I know I saw them for sale online once upon a time. What I'm looking for is just the analog joystick piece of a dreamcast controller. They're pretty much two potentiometers (one per axis) attached to the control stick, all together in a nice package. You see them in 3rd party controllers. The Sega o...

cool, thanks for the advice guys. The project is kinda on the back burner for now, but when I get some time I'll post what info I've got on my Samba website http://www.sambadeamigodc.com/

(how cool is that, I got the domain that's programmed on all copies of Samba de Amigo)

I didn't like JSRF much. They took out the fun elements of the game such as using the analog stick to tag walls, and running from the cops. In JSRF the levels seem to be cop free so you are able to skate around uninhibited. There are minibosses of cops around the levels, but thats all I saw. I only ...

would it be illegal to ...

I figured out the file format for the AMG files that are on the Samba de Amigo disc. These files are what determine the directions and timing of the balls for each level. Would it be illegal (under DMCA or other such laws) for me to publish my findings? Anyone know? I already brought something like ...

what about those Glade Plugins? You could add a wall socket to the side of the DC and route the AC power to it then plug the Glade Plugin to it.

Cool! Nice job. I thought about re-routing my wire, but uhh, i'll leave it alone. Don't be scared to re-route the wire. It's cake. Just drill a hole with a sharp knife (the plastic is thin at the circle spot on the back). Then there are like 4 or 5 wires you have to cut and solder (or tape) back to...

I figured it out. I just hacked up a 12v AC adaptor. It doesn't supply enough current though so the light is kinda dim. I'll have to find bigger adaptor I guess.

Power a cold cathode light w/o PC power supply?

Anyone know how to power a cold cathode light without a PC power supply? I just threw away the spec sheet to my light so I don't have a reference for voltages. I figure it runs at 12v. But what do the inverters that come with the lights do? Do they convert 12v DC to 120v AC? If so would it be possib...

http://www.energyquest.ca.gov/projects/lemon.html A single lemon produces about 7/10 of a volt of electricity. If you connected two lemons together, you can power an inexpensive digital watch (uses about 1.5 volts). What does a Dreamcast need? 12v? That'd be 16 lemons to get 12v. Though there wouldn...

I hacked apart a discman and did the mod. I was running it my 400W Technics reciever. I had to turn the volume all the way up to hear anything and for the first time the cooling fan on the reciever turned on. I ended up melting the discman motor. Funny thing was it sounded better w/o a CD on it. Nex...

i just had an idea. would you be able to do this with a CD motor? Or do they only spin in one direction? oh he answers my question on the site This kind of fun isn't just limited to harddisks... I also got low frequency sounds to come out of an electric motor, and even standard cooling fans will mak...

one time my dad dripped motten pipe solder onto his shoes. I don't think it went though them though. Another time when my cousin was 5 y/o he saw a glowing rock on the ground and picked up what turned out to be a hot coal that had fallen out of the barbaque grill.

I'm doing this mod, but I'm gonna suspend the sandwiched drives with bungee cords for added noise reduction. I got the metal pieces from a construction site. I've gotta drill the hole (dunno how I'm gonna do that).

does a hard drive have to be level?

I've seen cases where you could mount the hard drive so the discs are parallel to gravity rather than perpendicular which is what you see in most configurations. My dad told me that it doesn't matter which way the drive is oriented just that it will operate most efficiently in the orientation that i...

Another thing about cooling: My guess is Sega did the math and built the Dreamcast for optimal air flow. So drilling extra holes may have an adverse (bad) effect on you DC's cooling. I'm basing this on the same logic that you don't improve air flow in your PC by taking the cover off. PC cases are de...
