Re: New user -- looking to be very active online

Welcome to the server. I hope you enjoy your time playing on it... Let's see if I can answer some of the questions... 1. Online quests are not really generally meant for offline play -- they're usually meant as something to play with others, so we don't offer them for download to play offline. There...

Re: Detecting memory errors

It certainly doesn't catch as much as valgrind does, but you could enable all of the memory-related debugging features in include/kos/opts.h (make sure to do a full make clean && make on KOS itself and your own code afterwards).

Re: How do I set PT_ALPHA_REF?

Based on what I see in the reicast source code, that would be register 0x011c in the PVR's register space, so you'd use something like this: PVR_SET(0x011c, value); As for what the values mean, my best guess from the reicast source is that the lower 8 bits of it are the value you want to set to what...

Re: PSO Questions & Answers

Please excuse me if this is "beating a dead horse" or if this is the incorrect thread but; Is the gamecube version of PSO playable via Devolution (Wii) on the Sylverant server? I've read the controversies between BlueCrab and tueidj and am a little confused at the compatibility with these software(...

Re: Regarding Wii/Devolution

I know this is a super old post and sorry for bumping but it seems like the right place to ask. Is there any way/guide how to set up my own PPP emulator locally in Windows or in a VM or anything to work along side Devolution? I know it's not really needed but I would like to have a backup of connec...

Re: Line disconnect when trying to join a ship with people on

For some reason some people have that weird MTU problem, and some don't. I've personally never run into it myself, where others have had constant issues with it... :|

Glad that you got it sorted out, though.

Re: Server Event: Wondrous Winter

Prizes are now available for you to trade in your event tokens for. You can reach the prize list by using the /tbronze (for Bronze Tokens), /tsilver (for Silver Tokens), /tgold (for Gold Tokens), or /tplatinum (for Platinum Tokens) commands in game. You cannot run these commands outside of a team (y...

Re: boot problem on old dreamcast JAP system with builcd

If you're not even seeing the "Produced by or under license..." screen, then the problem certainly has nothing to do with KOS. I suspect that the "buildcd.bat" and bootdreams are using different methods to burn the disc (one using the data/data method and one using the audio/data method) and you hav...

Re: Fopen fails on gd-rom

It was designed that way on purpose, and has always been that way.

That's why even early versions of the Sylverant PSO Patcher (which used KOS) have their own disc access code to read the 1ST_READ.BIN file off a GD-ROM.

Re: Fopen fails on gd-rom

KOS does not support reading GD-ROM media -- it only supports reading CDs in the drive.

Re: Issues with KOS Setup Script

Unfortunately, I don't use MinGW to do development, so I can't really be of any help here. That said, since you're on Windows 10, another option is to use the Windows Subsystem for Linux feature and to build the toolchain that way (if you're not dead-set on using MinGW), which is actually the "offic...

Re: Help I have no idea what I'm doing

If you're using your own serial number/access key pair on the website (i.e, not a "shared serial" that you found online) and it is complaining that you're already registered, then that means you were able to at least make the initial connection to the server before you ran into issues (with the free...

Re: Unsure how some PVR features behave

First off, moved to Programming, since it makes more sense there... Second, to the questions... 1. The modifier lists are for sending modifier volumes, which change parameters of polygons that are "within" them. They can be used to do things like shadowing (by changing colors), or for changing textu...

Re: PSO PC Recovering Character Data

PSOv2 saves all character data on your PC. Unless you saved the directory of character files, there's no way to get them back. The server does have a way to save partial character data on the server (either manually or automatically), but once again, you would have had to have done that before you f...

Re: USB FTDI Coders Cable

The cheapest solution out there is to get one of the cheap USB->3.3v serial boards off of ebay (make sure whatever one you get has RTS/CTS pins, as well as the RX/TX ones) and to just solder it directly into the console using the test points on the motherboard (or if you're really adventurous, the p...

Re: programs hang on gdb_init()

I can't really help with the freezing issue, but I don't ever recall there being a GDB example in the mainline KOS repository at all. I know that I certainly haven't removed anything like that (or even touched the GDB support) during the whole time where I've been the one directing the project. Hone...
